It has been almost a decade since my last visit to Thailand. During those years, the country had remained one of the world’s most visited destinations, but it had also made headlines for reasons that didn’t always reflect its true spirit. So, when the Tourism Authority of Thailand, together with the iconic Dusit Thani Hotels, invited me to rediscover the country, I was curious to see what had changed—and more importantly, what had remained timeless.

Armed with curiosity and an appetite for discovery, I boarded a Thai Airways flight for a four-night journey through Hua Hin and Bangkok. What followed was a refreshing reminder that Thailand continues to evolve while staying true to its greatest strengths—warm hospitality, exceptional value, world-class wellness and unforgettable culinary experiences.
Hua Hin: Hidden Coastal Gem of Thailand
Our journey began with a scenic drive to Hua Hin, a charming seaside town often recognised as one of Thailand’s premier wedding destinations for Indian travellers. While weddings have certainly put Hua Hin on the map, the town offers far more than beautiful beachfront venues.
Known for its laid-back atmosphere, wellness retreats and luxurious resorts, Hua Hin is a destination where life slows down. Better yet, Thailand continues to deliver incredible value for money. With five-star luxury often available for around USD 200 per night, travellers can enjoy world-class hospitality without stretching their budget.

We checked into the elegant Dusit Thani Hua Hin, where the tone for the journey was immediately set. If there was one recurring theme throughout this trip, it was this:
Thailand arguably offers one of the world’s finest culinary experiences—not just in quality, but in incredible value.
From vibrant street food stalls to Michelin-recognised restaurants, every meal tells a story.
A Palace Unlike Any Other
Our first cultural experience took us to the beautiful Mrigadayavan Palace.

Unlike the grand, imposing palaces often seen across Asia, this royal residence reflects simplicity and elegance. Built as a seaside retreat, it offers visitors a glimpse into the humble lifestyle of Thailand’s royalty.
The peaceful 90-minute walk through the palace grounds was made even more enjoyable by the absence of large crowds—a rarity at historical attractions today. It’s worth noting that parts of the palace are only open on selected days, so planning ahead is essential.
Painting Memories at Khomapastr
One of the most enjoyable experiences in Hua Hin was visiting Khomapastr, a traditional fabric painting workshop that has preserved this beautiful art form for over five decades.
Rather than simply watching artisans at work, visitors are invited to become artists themselves.

Choose from tote bags, T-shirts, pouches or other fabric items, select colourful stencils and paints and create your own personalised souvenir. Whether travelling with family, friends or children, this interactive workshop is both creative and memorable.
Thailand’s Unexpected Wine Country
One of the biggest surprises of the trip awaited us at Monsoon Valley Vineyard.

Few travellers associate Thailand with wine, yet this stunning estate nestled amidst rolling hills produces award-winning Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, sparkling wines and several other labels.
The experience extends far beyond wine tasting.
Guests can cycle through picturesque vineyards, enjoy thoughtfully curated tasting menus, design personalized wine labels and even interact with rescued elephants in an ethical conservation environment. Combined with spectacular scenery and exceptional cuisine, Monsoon Valley is easily one of Hua Hin’s most unique attractions.
Wellness at Its Finest
As we made our way towards Bangkok, we stopped at one of Thailand’s most impressive wellness destinations, located just forty minutes outside the city.
Spanning nearly 88 acres, this remarkable retreat offers a completely caffeine-free environment focused on holistic health and rejuvenation.
Whether guests seek anti-ageing therapies, rehabilitation, preventive healthcare, fitness programmes or simply a digital detox, the property provides world-class medical and wellness facilities. With luxurious villas, pool residences and immersive programmes ranging from three to seven nights, it’s an ideal escape for anyone looking to reset both body and mind.
Thailand has quietly established itself as one of the world’s leading wellness destinations—offering everything from affordable traditional massages to internationally acclaimed clinical wellness centres.
Bangkok: Luxury Meets Tradition
From tranquility, we returned to the vibrant energy of Bangkok.
Our home for the next two nights was the spectacular new Dusit Thani Bangkok—the flagship property of the brand that has been beautifully rebuilt after an extensive transformation.
The arrival itself is unforgettable.

Guests check in from the Sky Lobby on the 39th floor, where panoramic views overlook Lumpini Park, often referred to as Bangkok’s “Central Park.”
For travellers who appreciate exceptional hotels, this property is an experience in itself.
Spacious rooms beginning at 50 square metres, elegant suites, world-class dining, rooftop sunsets, a Michelin-starred restaurant, direct access to one of Bangkok’s newest shopping destinations and one of the finest breakfast spreads experienced anywhere in the world makes it a destination worth visiting even if you’re not staying overnight.
Families will particularly appreciate the complimentary Kids Club and nanny service—an offering rarely found at luxury hotels globally.
Relaxation, the Thai Way

No visit to Bangkok feels complete without experiencing one of Thailand’s legendary spas.
Each evening, we enjoyed authentic Thai massages, while one afternoon was dedicated to visiting one of the city’s renowned luxury spa chains.
From aromatic oils and herbal scrubs to highly trained therapists, every treatment reflected Thailand’s long-standing reputation as a global leader in wellness.
Three Reasons Thailand Continues to Win Hearts
After revisiting Thailand, one thing became abundantly clear.
Few destinations in the world combine these three experiences as successfully as Thailand:
1. Exceptional Shopping
From luxury international brands to vibrant local markets, Bangkok offers shopping for every budget. Whether you’re searching for designer labels or handcrafted souvenirs, excellent value is never far away. We had the opportunity to explore the Cicada Market in Hua Hin – known for art, handmade goods, food and live performances. These night markets are a must visit for every visitor as you get not only shopping but a mix of culinary and cultural experiences, equally enjoyed by families with kids as well.
2. World-Class Wellness
Traditional Thai massages can cost as little as 300 Thai Baht, while luxury wellness retreats offer advanced medical treatments, rehabilitation programmes and holistic therapies. Few countries cater so effectively to every traveller’s wellness needs.
3. Incredible Culinary Diversity
Perhaps Thailand’s greatest strength lies in its food.

Whether it’s a delicious street-side meal for around 120 Baht or an elaborate Michelin-starred tasting menu paired with exceptional wines, every dining experience celebrates fresh ingredients, bold flavours and remarkable value.
Experiences Beyond the Obvious in Thailand
Thailand rewards travellers who venture beyond the typical tourist checklist.

Our visit to Jim Thompson House beautifully showcased the story of the man who transformed Thai silk into a global luxury product. The guided storytelling made the experience as memorable as the architecture itself.
Equally unforgettable was the evening dinner cruise along the Chao Phraya River.

As Bangkok’s illuminated skyline reflected across the water, we passed luxury hotels, iconic landmarks and the magnificent Icon Siam. To make the evening even more magical, we were fortunate to witness a spectacular riverside light show that transformed the city into a celebration of colour and culture.
Whether you choose a simple sightseeing cruise or an elegant fine-dining experience, cruising the Chao Phraya is an essential Bangkok experience.
Thailand: Familiar Yet Constantly Surprising
Thailand continues to remain one of the world’s most versatile destinations.
It is affordable without compromising quality.
Luxurious without being intimidating.
Familiar, yet constantly evolving.

Excellent flight connectivity from India, short travel times, welcoming hospitality and an extraordinary diversity of experiences make it equally appealing for first-time visitors and seasoned travellers alike. It is also a destination perfect for family with kids who can enjoy a long weekend to unwind with a combination of wellness, cuisine and retail therapy
This journey reminded me that even destinations we’ve visited before can surprise us when explored differently.
At Namaste Tourism, we’ve always believed in travelling beyond the obvious—seeking authentic, immersive and meaningful experiences rather than simply ticking off attractions.
Thailand perfectly embodies that philosophy.
And perhaps that’s why, no matter how many times you visit, it always leaves you planning your next visit as the country offers great diversity with authenticity.
