THE STORY

It started with a single trip to Europe in 1986. Subhash Motwani returned home not just with memories, but with a sense of calling. He went on to study French and Spanish in London, then Italian and superior-level Spanish in Spain and France — building a foundation of languages that would become the backbone of a remarkable career in travel and education.

Two years later, in 1988, he sat his first IATA/UFTAA examination. By 1992, aged in his early twenties, he had become the youngest and most-qualified person in India to hold five IATA certifications. He never stopped there.

Today, Subhash is the founder of Namaste Tourism — a company known across the industry for bespoke journeys, premium incentives, and a knack for turning hidden-gem destinations into must-visit experiences for discerning Indian travellers.

1986

The spark
First trip to Europe; language studies in London kick off a lifelong love of travel and cross-cultural connection.

1988

Career begins
Joins RBCS Group as a travel and tourism educator. Sits first IATA exam; passes with distinction

1992

Record holder
Becomes India’s youngest person to hold five IATA qualifications across both passenger and cargo streams.

2000

World first
IHCTM becomes the first authorised training centre globally — out of 210 worldwide — to offer seven IATA qualifications under one roof.

2004

Namaste Tourism launches
Marking the RBCS Group’s 50th anniversary, Namaste Tourism is born — focused on niche, premium, and experiential travel for Indian outbound travellers.

2009–2018

Destination network
Launches 10 destination-specific platforms: Germany, Egypt, South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina, Poland, Hungary, Israel, Portugal, and Croatia.

2016

Luxury pivot
Launches Luxury Vignettes; joins Traveller Made and becomes a preferred partner of various luxury hotel brands

2017

Running the world
Organises India’s first special-interest running tour — the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromsø, Norway — and runs the full marathon himself.

BEYOND TRAVEL

Subhash is a contributor to the Argentine Consulate in Mumbai, having co-curated the photographic exhibition Bella Argentina and delivered the acclaimed talk ‘Wine, Tango & Football’ for top operators and diplomats. He was invited by Guatemala’s Ambassador to India and has helped grow Indian tourist interest in the Mayan Land. He has presented at the Visegrad 4 tourism workshop and collaborated with tourism boards across New Zealand, Argentina, Turkey, Germany, and more.

Off the road, he is an avid marathoner with 36 completed races, a consumer rights advocate (ASCI member, life member of CGSI), and the founder of CRUSADERS — a watchdog initiative that exposed fraudulent vocational institutes misleading students with bogus foreign affiliations.
